The Boston Diaries is now officially closed. There were two primary problems with my vision: when my life was interesting enoiugh to write about, I couldn't find the time time or energy to write about it; when my life was slow enough to give me time to write for this blog, I had nothing to write about. Attempts to write about long-past events were difficult, like trying to recall coherence from vague tidbits of dreams.
Also, it never really gained readership. On on hand, it should be something I'm doing for myself, but, on the other, without external reward of some kind (notoriety, mayhaps? appreciation?), it's difficult to keep the drive up. I met a few new interesting people who came across this blog. But the majority of its visitors seemed to be people who weren't supposed to be reading it and were trying to sneak their way through the security protocols I established. And then there were people I'd encountered who were outraged (outraged!) that they had been talked about in my public diaries. Sorry, but I do kiss and tell. I don't believe in secrets: I keep them only when my word is given or when their disclosure would have negative repercussions.
At the time of this blog's discontinuation, I am starting a new blog of neologisms (but not really anything from my life, called Neology. If I do start another life-detailing blog someday, I will take a few lessons from The Boston Diaries: use pseudonyms and nicknames for all people, because they are private and paranoid douchefaces; avoid rehashing hearsay and stick simply to kmy own experiences; tone down any amazement I feel at coincidences and let the reader glean it emself.
